Commercial ads of politicians partisan activity but not premature campaigning

The 2010 elections is nearing and possible candidates are endorsing various products on billboards, tv and etc. Some of these product endorsements include laundry detergents, skin care center, bath soap, skin whitener and health supplements. But some use public servics announcements such as calling for the protection of overseas Filipino workers, environment-protection ad and the promotion of the low-cost housing loan program of Pag-ibig.

I am against the idea of possible candidates for the 2010 elections endorsing products and appearing in public service announcements. I agree with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago when she described these as a form of premature campaigning. And I strongly agree that we should not vote for these politicians.

Commercial endorsements that indirectly promote a politician outside of the election period may not be punishable under election laws but they are certainly unethical.

2010 elections will soon arrive and candidates are now making their way for the elections. We all know that tv commercials are a common way of exposing themselves to the people. They say that campaigning through ads and tv commercials are premature but we can say that this is the most powerful way to attract people.

Gordon and Escudero are one of the few who has commercials. They endorse that particular brand because they trust them. Other senators also claimed that their talent fees went to charities and did not benefit from it.

The 2010 elections should be fair and not riggid especially about vote buying and flying voters. Citizens cannot avoid this as every elections there were news about it. There are news that bloggers could participate in the upcoming election since there were bloggers already who participated in the 2007 elections and some got even a chance to join a campaign caravan.

We hope for the best leaders in our country to run in the 2010 elections who would unite with us and uplift our country. Those who really want to help the citizens and not to corrupt the government for their own good.

GSIS V. MERALCO

Nowadays,we notice that there has been an excessive rates on our electrical bills. This affects our daily lives due to power rate charges in electricity which we use in everyday necessities. The management of the Meralco abuses its power to the people that is why the Government Service Insurance System wants to change the people in charge of MERALCO so that the power rate will go down and ease the burden of the people.

Winston Garcia as the president of the GSIS strongly opposes the MERALCO'S way of increasing the rate charges. In his point of view, MERALCO should not burden the consumers especially now everything is increasing. Unless the managament is changed, the hard-earned money of the people will be spent more on electric bill charges than the basic necessities of life.

This issue will lead to a court and it is expected that the board will elect new members for the position. The GSIS wants to take over the management of the MERALCO so that fairness can be given to the consumers. Garcia will file an estafa case to MERALCO for overcharging the citizens.

On the other hand, the people believe that Garcia would only pave the way for the government to monopolize power distribution. We just hope that the MERALCO will not continue to burden the public due to their systems lost for that would be unfair for us.

Well what will happen to us if everything will just rise up? It can lead to staggering cost of living. The MERALCO should realize their various effects on the lives of the people.

ZTE SCANDAL

What is it about this ZTE scandal? Some witnesses opposed the government's denial about dealing with China's broadband company that was allegedly tainted by bribery. Moreover, the ZTE corporation also opposes their connection with political circus. But what is really the truth? Did our government really had issues with this company?

A person who claimed to be a former ZTE consultant and head of the broadband project’s design team named Dante Madriaga along with Jose De Venecia III accused the Arroyo couple of the corruption scandal over the $329-million national broadband network project with Chinese firm ZTE.

They say that Arroyo's visit to Shenzhen was a secret, but Arroyo said it was not. The Arroyo,along with Abalos, accused of offering multimillion-peso bribes to get endorsement of the project, later resigned. According to the news, it is said that Ms. Arroyo subsequently cancelled the deal to wire the nation's bureaucracy via Internet.

Jun Lozada, the key witness in the Senate said that he would be testifying and will tell what he knows. He was just looking for the right time and place to witness for his testimony might cause the Arroyo administration to fall despite other crises behind it.

Until now this scandal has not been solved yet due to our economic rice crises. And also the oil price hike which greatly affects our everday lives. Our attention has been transferred to the country's agricultural sector for our living. I just hope that our economic leaders and the nation will be living in unity so that out country will no longer be one of the most unfortunate ones.

Well,we could see that our government has a lot of issues about graft and corruption that is why our country is a mess. Our government does not have the right morals and values in ruling the country. We pay taxes but do we see the outcome? This has to do with the government's way of handling the citizen's right. The upsurge of crime, lawlessness, and poverty still continues. The political situation right now may even be more serious than we could imagine.
